MDL Beast Soundstorm festival temporary power and HVAC in Riyadh

MDL Beast Soundstorm is a major fixture on the Saudi Arabian events calendar, attracting more than 700,000 spectators over three days. Staged at Ban Ban outside Riyadh, the festival combines multiple stages, large hospitality programmes, and global broadcast coverage in a desert climate where temporary plant is not a convenience but a core production requirement.

FLOW has been involved since 2020. In 2022 the team was directly contracted by the event organiser to supply temporary HVAC and power solutions, including bespoke HVAC for VIP hospitality lounges and temporary electrical distribution for hospitality structures and live TV broadcast.

That continuity matters for festival producers: repeat seasons mean design lessons carry forward, site knowledge deepens, and temporary power and cooling can be refined as stages and hospitality footprints change year to year.

What FLOW delivered

  • Power: Temporary electrical distribution for hospitality structures and live TV broadcast compounds, engineered for multi-day peak and overnight production loads.
  • Cooling: Bespoke temporary HVAC for VIP hospitality lounges, maintaining guest comfort in Riyadh outdoor conditions.
  • Design: Integrated planning of temporary power and HVAC packages so hospitality, broadcast, and production zones could be energised and climate-controlled as one coordinated overlay.

Why it mattered

Large outdoor festivals in the Kingdom face concurrent demand from stages, F&B, sponsor villages, VIP areas, and broadcast. Temporary power must isolate critical circuits (especially TV) from noisier production loads while remaining flexible enough for late layout changes on a large open site.

Hospitality expectations at Soundstorm are high. VIP lounges need stable cooling regardless of daytime heat and evening swings, which means HVAC capacity and power for chillers or package units have to be designed together, not as afterthought rentals.

Multi-day operation also stresses fuel logistics, maintenance access, and night-time quiet operation near guest areas. FLOW’s multi-year involvement since 2020 supports a delivery model built for Saudi festival reality: dense temporary overlay, broadcast reliability, and climate control for premium experiences.
